The eyepiece is also a major component of the microscope. Its primary function is to further magnify the real image formed by the objective lens, producing a clear virtual image at the near point of distinct vision. Its quality ultimately affects the quality of the specimen image. Magnification through the eyepiece does not alter the resolving power of the image.
